About Us

Mission Statement

VAESA is a consensus organization of elevator professionals dedicated to elevator safety, training, and continuing education. VAESA membership consists of Building Officials, Inspectors, Tradesmen, Contractors, and members of Labor and Industry.

As VAESA continues to grow, we become more and more diverse in our membership and contacts. Our organizational makeup of members and contacts is approximately 45% AHJ, 25% Third Party Inspectors, and 30% Tradesman/Labor/Industry. This proves that VAESA is not just an AHJ Inspectors club, but a true consensus organization. We are now able to hold our meetings in new geographic locations to provide access to those who have not been able to travel to our existing locations.

VAESA has developed a continuing education program which is second to none. Our program provides access to new technology, new products, manufactures product demonstrations, contractor’s presentations on new products/technology, nationally recognized speakers, consultants, engineers, and other elevator professionals. Not only do they speak at our meetings, but many of them are members of VAESA, and provide members the ability to interface with them one on one. Thru our diverse membership and continuing education programs, VAESA is able to provide a support network for all elevator professionals. The VAESA continuing education program has routinely received approved credit hours from DHCD, EIWPF, NAESA, and NAEC.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF VAESA

VAESA was formed as a local/regional support group for AHJ elevator inspectors and other elevator professionals. After meeting informally for several years, a group of inspectors from the tidewater/piedmont areas decided to formalize the meetings and form a professional elevator organization. VAESA was not formed to create an organization for political influence or control. VAESA was not created to influence, intimidate, or interfere in anyone’s business. There is no one person who represents or speaks for VAESA. VAESA was formed to promote elevator safety, training, and continuing education. All like minded professionals are welcomed to VAESA as a valued member.

As word of VAESA spread, we soon found out that there was interest from across the state about being involved in our organization. Our membership grew quickly and included people from the private and public sectors, inspectors, contractors, and members of labor and industry.

THE FUTURE OF VAESA

In the future we wish to further develop out training and continuing educational services. VAESA will continue to be a resource for tradesmen, inspectors, contractors, and other professionals. If VAESA can be of assistance to other organizations, we will certainly work with them to promote education, training, and elevator safety. With the resources VAESA can bring to the table, and the amount of continuing education required, our programs present a win/win situation for all. As VAESA continues to grow and evolve, we are excited to see where we will go. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the services we offer, visit and use our website, attend our meetings, and see what VAESA has to offer.
